
I back up my blogs using a plugin WP DB Backup. If anything happens I will restore my blog to the last settings. I use WP Security Scan free plugin to scan my blog and requests to be blocked by WordPress Firewall to fix wordpress malware protection.
You can search. If your site is abruptly hacked by hackers, you can restore your site with the use of your backup files and change.
Exclude pages - This plugin adds a checkbox,"include this page in menus", which can be checked by default. If you uncheck it, the page will not appear in any listings of webpages (which includes, and is usually limited to, your webpage navigation menus).

I prefer using a WordPress plugin to get the job done. Just make sure is able to do copies that are select, has restore performance, and can replicate. Be sure it is frequently updated to keep pace. There's absolutely no use in not functioning, and backing other up your data to a plugin that is out of date.
